CFTools GameLabs for DayZ

GameLabs is the CFTools telemetry layer for a DayZ mission. It is optional, and it is not a substitute for RCon.

GameLabs is CFTools' deeper look at a live DayZ mission: what players are doing, not only that their name appears in a BattlEye list. CFTools Cloud already gives you RCon. GameLabs is the extra product surface for communities whose questions have moved past "who do I kick." If your questions are still "is RCon connected," you do not need this page yet. Finish Cloud first.

RCon knows the session. It can kick, ban, message, and restart. It does not, by itself, show you the base, the shot, or the pattern that made three people open a ticket about the same player. That is the gap GameLabs is for. It is still CFTools, it still assumes you run a real server, and it still does not replace the host. CFTools Architect keeps the process installed and updated. GameLabs does not host DayZ. Turning it on and forgetting the restart schedule will not make the simulation healthier.

Treat telemetry as staff-only. Player positions and admin context are not a toy to screenshot into a public Discord. A leak of a live map with names on it is how you teach raiders your tooling and how you teach regulars not to trust you. The same rule as the admin log: store it, use it for a decision, do not publish the raw feed. DayZ Manager will never show it. The public server page stays a roster: name, map, mods, population.

Install and updates have to match the modded server you actually run. A telemetry mod or plugin that lags the Workshop item will crash the mission or silently report nothing. Fold it into the mod update workflow. If Architect is applying Workshop updates, read the GameLabs notes for that build before you restart into a Friday night. One quiet test boot is cheaper than a server that dies at the scheduled restart because an extra DLL was the wrong version.

You do not owe your players a surveillance suite. Some communities want the tool because they arbitrate raids and duping. Some communities are a friends-and-family vanilla server where a shared ban list is enough. Both are legitimate. Buying every CFTools surface on day one is how a small server gets a staff UI nobody opens. Pricing and what is included live on cftools.com/pricing. This guide will not invent a bundle.

If you enable it, write down who can see it. The same permission problem as the RCon password applies: a former moderator with a live map is not a former moderator. Remove access in Cloud when the person leaves. Keep the ban reasons tied to something you can explain without showing the whole feed to the accused and their friends.

GameLabs is a reason to stay inside CFTools instead of bolting a second overlay from a stranger onto BattlEye. The second overlay wants the same password and the same port. You will not notice which tool banned the player. One vendor for the management path is the simpler log.

Turn it on after RCon is boring

GameLabs is a staff tool for a mission you already run well. If kicks fail, fix BattlEye first. Telemetry on a server you cannot ban is a documentary of a problem. Connect CFTools Cloud, prove a restart on the live list, and only then add the layer that shows more than names. The vanilla communities that need it are usually arbitrating a raid or a dupe. The modded ones are doing that plus whatever the mods broke. Both should still be able to explain a ban without a screenshot of a live map in a public channel.

Access follows the same rule as the RCon password. List the people who can open the feed. Remove them when the role ends. A shared login saved in a browser on a shared PC is a leak you will discover from a clip, not from a log. Prefer named users. If the product session outlives the friendship, you are still publishing positions to that person. Check.

Updates of the telemetry component belong in the same window as Workshop updates. A version skew crashes the boot or reports an empty world while the game is full. One quiet restart, one join, one look at the feed, then the scheduled clock can have the server back. Do not ship it first at peak because a patch note sounded urgent. CFTools Architect can host the files. You still choose the minute. The player chart on your public page is the minute the community feels.

Privacy is a community rule, not a technicality. Tell staff the feed is for decisions, not for entertainment, and not for posting. Players who learn they are a live dot in a public Discord will leave even if your bans are fair. You can run a serious server without this layer. Many official servers are existence proof that a roster does not require your overlay. Add GameLabs when the questions you already log cannot be answered. Prices and packaging stay on cftools.com/pricing. This page will not invent a bundle to make the tool sound mandatory.

Questions

Is GameLabs the same as CFTools Cloud?

No. Cloud is RCon management. GameLabs is mission telemetry for staff who need more than the player list.

Does DayZ Manager show GameLabs data?

No. The public index shows roster facts only.

Do I need GameLabs to ban cheaters?

No. Kicks and bans work through Cloud and BattlEye RCon. GameLabs is for communities that want more context.
