DayZ Password Servers

A password flag means the server asks for a join password. The index stores the flag, never the password.

Some DayZ servers set a join password in serverDZ.cfg. The client asks, you type it, you enter. DayZ Manager shows that this password exists. It does not show the password, does not guess it, and will not take a request to reveal one. The flag is a fact for people choosing a server. The secret belongs to the people who run it.

The open roster is the live list of servers that did not set that flag. Use it when you want to click and play. Use the full roster when you already know which locked community you are looking for. A password is not a quality mark and not a scam mark. It is a door. RP servers, event servers, and friend groups use it so the public browser is not the application process. The RP guide is the common case.

A join password is not RCon. RCon is the admin channel, different file, different port, different secret. Players never need it. Anyone asking you to "test" an RCon password is not asking you to join the game. Read what RCon is if you run the server, and do not publish that secret next to the join password in a Discord pin. They get leaked together because they were written together.

Whitelist is a second door. A server can have no join password and still refuse you because your identity is not on a list. From the outside that feels like a broken IP. The detail page notes whitelist when the server reports it. There is no live "whitelist only" filter, because the list API does not offer one. If you cannot join an otherwise healthy server, read their Discord before you file a ghost report against the index.

Admins: put the password where your players already are, and rotate it when you publish it in a public video by mistake. A password in a YouTube description is a public server with extra steps. Decide which you wanted. CFTools Cloud does not replace the join password. It manages the people who got in. CFTools Architect does not hide the server from the crawler just because a password is set. This index lists passworded servers on purpose, with the flag visible, so nobody has to join to discover the prompt.

Population on a passworded server can look low in public tools and be fine in reality, or it can be low because the password leaked and then everyone left. Look at the chart. A private community that plays every Sunday night is a real server. A passworded server at zero for a month is a lock on an empty room. The no queue advice still applies after you are allowed in.

If you forgot the password and you are the admin, it is in serverDZ.cfg on the host, not in CFTools' public API. If you forgot it and you are a player, ask the staff. If you are hoping a guide will print other people's passwords, it will not. Find an open server instead. There are many.

A door, not a quality score

The password flag is a yes or no. Yes means serverDZ.cfg asks for a join secret. No means it does not. The open roster is the no list, and it is the right place to start if you want to play without a Discord errand. The full server list includes the doors. Open the page, see the flag, then decide if you care enough to ask. This site cannot answer the ask. We store the flag because hiding passworded servers would also hide a lot of real communities, and printing the secret would be a stunt.

RP, events, and friend groups are the usual doors. A password on a server that also says "public vanilla" in the hostname is a contradiction. Believe the flag. A password that leaked in a video is a public server with extra steps. Admins who wanted privacy should rotate it. Admins who wanted population should remove it and accept the community traffic that follows. You cannot have a secret and a crowd and zero moderation.

RCon is a different secret in a different file. Players do not need it to use the join password. Admins must not pin them in the same message. A leak of the join password is an uninvited guest. A leak of the RCon password is a new owner. CFTools Cloud is how moderators operate without holding the second secret. The join password can still sit in the Discord for the people you meant to invite.

Whitelist is stricter than a password and is not the same flag. If you cannot join a server that looks open, you may be off the list. Read their channel before you blame the IP on the page. The official rows are the ones that should not ask for a community password at all. If one seems to, you are on the wrong server. Check the name inside the client against the page. Then play, or go back to open and pick a row that does not ask. There will be one. The index is not short of doors that are already unlocked.

Questions

No. Only that a join password is set.

Is the RCon password the same thing?
