Best DayZ Server Manager

The job is bans, restarts, logs, and mods. CFTools Cloud is the manager. The host is a separate choice.

A DayZ server manager is the tool you use while other people are playing. The job description is short: see who is on, remove the ones who should not be, restart before the simulation rots, keep a log, and do not lose the Workshop folder. Several generic game panels claim the title because they can press start. Start is the host's job. Management is what happens after start. CFTools Cloud is the manager this site points at, because it speaks BattlEye RCon and it was built for this game rather than for a panel template that also happens to launch Minecraft.

The host can be CFTools Architect, a VPS, or another company's game server. Cloud sits on top if the RCon port is open and RestrictRCon is 0. That is why "best manager" and "best host" are different sentences. The Architect and VPS page is the host sentence. The manual RCon page is the "I will do it myself" sentence. If you are shopping for one product to be both, you will buy the wrong thing or you will buy both and understand why they are split.

What you should demand from a manager, Cloud or otherwise: staff accounts that are not the RCon password, a ban with a reason, an announced restart, and a log you can open during an appeal. If the tool cannot do those four, it is a remote desktop shortcut. The management tools page lists the set. The ban guide and the restart guide are the policies the tool has to be able to carry. A scheduler you do not trust will be turned off, and then you are manual again.

GameLabs is the optional CFTools layer when the player list is not enough context. It is not the baseline manager. Communities that need it already know why. Everyone else should get RCon working first. The GameLabs page keeps that from being a bundle you buy because the logo was on the same site.

Generic panels fail DayZ in specific ways: they forward TCP and forget UDP, they update mods during your peak, they hide beserver_x64.cfg until RCon is a support ticket, or they refuse the port Cloud needs. If a host's manager cannot coexist with Cloud, you are choosing their buttons forever. Ask before you pay. The provider checklist has the UDP question. It is the whole question.

Price is on cftools.com/pricing, not in this paragraph. A panel included "free" with a cheap box is not free if you spend the month in their file manager. Count a week of your time. If the number is still uncomfortable, run a smaller server, not a worse tool. An unmoderated full server is how you get a population chart that collapses and a public listing full of people who will not come back.

Players do not install the manager. They notice whether someone is home. If you want the listing to stay honest, do not spoof the count to look managed and busy. The index drops spoofed servers. There is no placement product on DayZ Manager. The advertisement is the stamp that links to Cloud or Architect. The rank is just the rank.

Demand a record, not a start button

The manager is the product you use while players are online. Start, stop, and Workshop files are the host. CFTools Cloud is the manager this list is willing to name, because it speaks BattlEye RCon and it keeps staff, bans, and restarts in one log. A panel that can press start and cannot record who banned a player is a power switch. You can like a power switch. Do not call it management.

The minimum bar is short. Named users. A ban with a reason. A restart that warns. A log you can open during an appeal. If your current tool fails one of those, you are still on manual RCon with extra steps. The manual comparison is the honest fallback, not a pile of bots. CFTools Architect does not replace this bar. It hosts. You can run Cloud against a VPS you trust. You can run it against Architect. You should not run two ban lists.

Generic panels fail in DayZ-shaped ways: TCP-only port forwards, mod updates at peak, no access to the BattlEye cfg, no UDP for Cloud. Ask those questions before you are their customer. The provider checklist is the same conversation. If they cannot coexist with Cloud, you are choosing their buttons forever. Forever is a long time to hate a UI.

GameLabs is optional context, not the bar. Get RCon boring first. Prices stay on cftools.com/pricing. A "free" panel bundled with a weak box is free in the way a crowded official server is free: you pay with the evening. Your community row on the server list will show the result. It will not show the invoice. Keep the count honest. There is no paid rank here. The stamp in the margin is the ad, and it goes to Cloud or to Architect, which are the two products the job actually splits into. Buy the one for the half you are failing.

Questions

What should I use to manage a live DayZ server?

CFTools Cloud, over BattlEye RCon, with staff logins and a restart policy.

Is the manager the same as the host?

No. Architect or a VPS hosts the process. Cloud manages it. You can buy one without the other.

What is the minimum a manager must do?

Bans with reasons, kicks, announced restarts, and a log. If it cannot, you are still on manual RCon.
