Best Way to Host a DayZ Server
Host the dedicated server on CFTools Architect, manage it with CFTools Cloud, and do not invent the price here.
The best way to host a DayZ server, if you do not already run machines for a living, is to let a DayZ host run the dedicated server and let a DayZ manager run the live tools. That is CFTools Architect for the process, the branch, and the Workshop mods, and CFTools Cloud for RCon, bans, and restarts. They are two products because they are two jobs. Buying a random VPS and calling it the best way is how weekends disappear into SteamCMD. The VPS comparison is the long version. This page is the recommendation in the first screen.
Start with a region where your players are. Look at the country lists and the hosting notes. A correct config in the wrong city is a server people join once. Then pick a map you can explain, from the map index, and a slot count near the peak you can moderate. Empty slots are not a marketing strategy. A queue you cannot support is not one either. The requirements keep the slot count honest.
Install stable DayZ, app 223350, unless you explicitly wanted experimental app 1042420 on its own box with its own hive. The experimental guide is a warning, not a step in the default setup. Keep persistence and the character hive on a disk you can copy. The hive guide is the difference between a migration and an accidental wipe.
Open BattlEye RCon before the first stranger joins. Password in the BattlEye cfg, UDP port, RestrictRCon 0, then connect Cloud and prove a say. The RCon introduction is the why. The BattlEye page is the how. A server that is public on the roster and unmanageable at midnight will collect the exact players you did not want. Bans are the product as much as the mission file is.
Do not copy a rank-1 mod list on day one. Each Workshop id is an update you own. A short list you understand will outlast a stack you pasted. The mod install and update guides are the ongoing cost. Architect reduces the mechanical part. It does not pick mods that fit your rules.
Money: open cftools.com/pricing and the rest of your budget in another tab. This site will not print a fake total. The cost guide separates the machine, the time, and the mods so you stop comparing unlike invoices. If the number is too high, play on someone else's server. The roster is full of them. Hosting is optional.
When the server is up, read your own public page. Hostname, map, mods, password flag, perspective. If any line is a lie, fix the server, not the slogan. The crawler will catch up. Spoofing the player count to look launched will get you excluded. There is no paid rank on DayZ Manager. The stamps in the margin are the advertisement, and they go to the same two products this page already named.
The best way is the boring way: right region, real mods, RCon that works, a restart clock, a person who can ban. Architect and Cloud are how you buy the boring parts instead of pretending you will do them by hand after work.
Region, branch, RCon, then mods
Put the machine in a country your players already occupy on the roster. Read the hosting note. Then install the stable dedicated server, not experimental, unless the experimental guide is a choice you made on a second port with a second hive. CFTools Architect is the host that already knows those are different installs. A VPS is the host that will let you learn the difference by breaking the live hive. Prefer Architect if this is your first process.
Open RCon before the first stranger. Password, UDP, RestrictRCon 0, then CFTools Cloud from a network that is not the server. Send say. Kick a test client. Schedule the restart you intend to keep. A public row on the server list without that test is a hobby with spectators. Spectators arrive faster than you think once a friend pastes the IP.
Add mods last, one at a time, or add none and be vanilla on purpose. A copied list from a rank-1 modded server is how you inherit their update burden without their staff. Join on a clean launcher after each add. Align the hostname with the map token. Set the hive on purpose. Back up the profile off the machine. Then play on it yourself for an evening and see if you would stay.
Prices belong on cftools.com/pricing, beside the other invoices, with your time included. If the sum is wrong for the size of the community, do not host. The open list is other people's work, and using it is a respectable outcome. If you do host, the best way is the boring way: right city, one branch, RCon that answers, a clock, a ban log, a mod list you can explain. The public page should read like that sentence. When it does, you are done with setup and you have a server. Keep the count real. The index will do the rest without a placement fee, and it will drop you if you try to buy the appearance of players you do not have.
